'Twilight' author Stephenie Meyer to speak in KC in May

March 12, 2008 (Kansas City Star / John Mark Eberhart) -- Stephenie Meyer, author of the best-selling Twilight series of vampire books, will speak May 8 in Kansas City.

The event at Unity Temple on the Plaza will be limited to 1,000 people, a stipulation that applies to all her appearances for this book tour, said Vivien Jennings, founder of Rainy Day Books. For more information, call 913-384-3126 or go to rainydaybooks.com.

Meyer's KC visit falls two days after the release of The Host. According to stepheniemeyer.com, the novel is "science fiction for people who don’t like science fiction."

Breaking Dawn, the final book in the Twilight series, will be published in August. The first three volumes of vampire/romance books for young readers were Twilight, New Moon and Eclipse.

A movie version of Twilight began production last month.
