Alas, poor Yorick! I knew him, Horatio
I'm writing today not about Shakespeare, so the quote seems a little odd I guess. Aside from it's said by Hamlet as he sits in a graveyard holding a skull. So perhaps it applies.
Something interesting is happening. I've always been a hack writer over the years, and have about a dozen screenplays that are half written. So needless to say I know how to complete a sentence; but don't judge this blog entry, I sometimes need an editor!
Recently I've been asked by a good friend of mine -- an extremely knowledgable and well-known scholar of vampire literature -- to contribute to his upcoming book. I can't say yet exactly what the book is about, but knowing what's out there relating to this subject, I anticipate the book will be very well-received. Once it goes to publication, I will elaborate.
This, in turn, has led to another opportunity -- there's a good chance that I may be contributing to a revised edition of a very well-known book, due to come out sometime next year. Again, I can't say much just yet, but I'll blog about it again when more details can be released.
Now, based on the research I am doing for the first book (and, as it happens, related research for the second), it's been suggested to me that I expand what I'm doing, complete my own book on the (very specific) subject, and shop it around to publishers. Although I believe the audience for my book will be a lot more narrow, honestly, there's nothing out there quite like it. Which makes me believe that there's a need for a book specific to this research.
So for the next few months, I'll be researching and writing. And maybe I'll even get back to those screenplays...
And for those who are interested, my only brush with literary fame so far was the design I did for the cover of Elizabeth Miller's book Reflections on Dracula: Ten Essays. A great book, I recommend you get a hold of a copy if you can.

Re: Alas, poor Yorick! I knew him, Horatio
Still writing! I've submitted my contribution to the first book, and am visciously working on the 2nd, which I need to finish by the end of this month. Feels good to be writing on a regular basis again, hopefully it'll pay off in the long run but if not, it's still a great feeling getting those creative juices flowing again!
