March 30, 2007 (NewKerala.Com / PHILADELPHIA) - Fearnet, the U.S. on-demand, horror-thriller video network, is getting off the ground with the help of high-flying "Spider-Man" director Sam Raimi. Raimi is producing Fearnet's first two original series with the first -- "Devil's Trade," about three teens cursed by an item they buy online -- expected to be ready for audiences in early June, Variety said Friday. The second series, due sometime in the fall," will be a prequel to "30 Days of Night," a vampire movie set in Alaska that will be released in October. Both are being written by Ben Ketai. Raimi is producing the projects through Ghost House Pictures, a joint venture he's involved in with Robert Tapert, Joe Drake and Nathan Kahane. Fearnet is the multiplatform site kicked off five months ago in a joint venture by Sony, Comcast and Lionsgate. Philadelphia-based Fearnet President Diane Robina said each of the ad-supported series will start with seven episodes with carryover storylines. "I'd like to do four or five (projects) this year," she said. --- UPI
