April 26, 2007 (EURweb.com) -- BlackFilm.com is reporting that Ernest Dickerson has signed on to direct "The Un-Dead," a sequel to "Dracula" that is named after the subtitle of author Bram Stoker’s original novel.

Javier Bardem ("Collateral") is reportedly in negotiations to suit up as Dracula, while Monica Bellucci and John Hurt are in talks to play Lucy and Professor Van Helsing respectively.

Variety reported last May that Jan De Bont will produce the project through his Blue Tulip Prods. banner along with Atchity Entertainment.

"The Un-Dead" will pick up 25 years after the book’s events, with all of the tome’s surviving protagonists present – including Jonathan and Mina Harker, Van Helsing, and Inspector Cotford, a character cut from the original manuscript.

Dickerson, who made his directorial debut with the 1992 film "Juice," has been behind the lens on several television projects, including episodes of "The Wire," "ER" and "Heroes."

I'm turning away from thy light
and lay myself into blackest night
I adore the sleepless nights
awe this endless death
A view of creation are a view of Illusion
this synopsis of sublife
a start from mud
But here I'm as anyone a part in this play
of neverending lives
of remembering it all over again
Hail to endless night away from the ugliness of the sun
showing the ugly new world growing here
all around us
A world taking away personality and human contact
a frozen lake of endless tears
and in endless pain

I'm not really sure how to say it,
and I'm not quite positive I mean it,
but it's been resting there
in the back of my head
and I really don't know how to sleep.
My attention is just so far off,
and nothing can shake me out of it,
it's like I'm caught in here
waiting for something unknown
can you show me which way the exit is?
My existance means nothing anymore,
and you're constantly nudging my back,
I wish you would just stop it
quit trying to push me forward
