April 26, 2007 (EURweb.com) -- BlackFilm.com is reporting that Ernest Dickerson has signed on to direct "The Un-Dead," a sequel to "Dracula" that is named after the subtitle of author Bram Stoker’s original novel. Javier Bardem ("Collateral") is reportedly in negotiations to suit up as Dracula, while Monica Bellucci and John Hurt are in talks to play Lucy and Professor Van Helsing respectively. Variety reported last May that Jan De Bont will produce the project through his Blue Tulip Prods. banner along with Atchity Entertainment. "The Un-Dead" will pick up 25 years after the book’s events, with all of the tome’s surviving protagonists present – including Jonathan and Mina Harker, Van Helsing, and Inspector Cotford, a character cut from the original manuscript. Dickerson, who made his directorial debut with the 1992 film "Juice," has been behind the lens on several television projects, including episodes of "The Wire," "ER" and "Heroes."
