August 2, 2007 (zap2it.com) -- A "Dark Angel" veteran has stepped in for an "Angel" veteran on CBS' vampire private eye drama "Moonlight." According to The Hollywood Reporter, Chip Johannessen will take over as executive producer and showrunner on "Moonlight," only a week after "Angel" co-creator David Greenwalt left citing personal and health reasons.

Greenwalt joined "Moonlight" after CBS picked the show up based on a pilot presentation. He proceeded to recast almost the entire show, leaving only Alex O'Loughlin in place as blood-sucking investigator Mick. During Greenwalt's tenure, Jason Dohring replaced Rade Serbedzija, Sophia Myles came in for Shannon Lucio and Amber Valetta became Shannyn Sossamon, all while the pilot underwent extensive reconception.

With Greenwalt out, original pilot writers Ron Koslow and Trevor Munson remain on as executive producer and co-executive producer with Joel Silver and Gerald Bocaccio also executive producing.

Johannessen's writing and producing credits include "Beverly Hills, 90210" and "Millennium." He most recently served as a consulting producer on "Dark Angel" and "Surface," with a stint as executive producer on ABC's "Empire" miniseries.

As I silently fold outwards from within the shadows surrounding the Inn, I take an opportunity to sense if anyone is around. Even though it would take the Elders a good couple of minutes or so before they pick up on my presence, I decide to make it a quick check, since there is so much to do, and so little time to do it in. Hopefully I'm not too late.

The Vampyre - John William Polidori
"The Vampyre" is a short story written by John William Polidori and is a progenitor of the romantic vampire genre of fantasy fiction.  It was first published on April 1, 1819, by Colburn in the New Monthly Magazine with the false attribution "A Tale by Lord Byron." The name of the work's protagonist, "Lord Ruthven," added to this assumption, for that name was originally used in Lady Caroline Lamb's novel Glenarvon, in which a thinly-disguised Byron figure was also named Lord Ruthven. Despite repeated denials by Byron and Polidori, the authorship often went unclarified.

It was misty on a mid-summers night. Cold and damp and I was riding on my horse, it was blacker than the night sky. I passed a stranger as I rode on. He stared then followed me for hours, never taking a rest. As I rode on I cam upon another stranger standing in the bewitching mist, the stranger did yet the same as the first. Both strangers, dressed the same, in black. Now I ride with two strangers in the mist. I'm on a journey to the nearest town out of this misty fores, so big, so dark, so scary and wierd.
