August 21, 2007 (bookseller.com) -- Beautiful Books publisher Simon Petherick has bought Argen­tinian illustrator Luis Scafiti's interpretation of the Dracula story for a good four-figure sum. The deal, for European English-language rights, was done through Sidonie Bancquart-Warren of Sea of Stories for Libros del Zorro Rojo. Petherick said the book would be a welcome addition to the burgeoning UK horror market.

He added: "I think the illustrations are just stunning. Scafiti reinterprets Dracula in a very modern way, taking it out of the schlock, making it a beautiful yet harrowing book, the way it was originally meant to be." Dracula will be published in spring 2008 under Beautiful's horror imprint Bloody Books.
