March 29, 2008 (The Jackson Sun) -- A Jackson man will hold a book signing Sunday afternoon in celebration of getting his first novel published. Henry Lewis Sanders, a resident at The New Southern in Downtown Jackson, will be signing copies of "Blood Journey," a vampire novel co-written with Terrie Leigh Relf, published by Sam's Dot Publishing, from 1 to 4 p.m. at the hotel. Tyree Campbell is the editor. Copies of the hardcover will be available for $15 each. The autograph is free. Sanders lives with spina bifida, a birth defect that causes curvature of the spine. He is unable to straighten up, said friend Matthew Miller, but worked four or five years to fulfill this dream. "I think it's amazing that someone with that disability could go and write a book," Miller said. "I think that's just phenomenal." Here's the publisher's description of the book: "'Blood Journey' is an intricately constructed tale of love and revenge among the undead. The beheading of the evil Baroness Andora by Count Vasilie sets off a chain of events among the followers of the Church of the Dark Mother that threatens to destroy the vampire community. "Relf and Sanders follow the trail of blood and darkness that began long ago and far away as they weave an erotic path through the exotic nights of London, Athens and Seattle. 'Blood Journey' has enough sex, blood, lust and mayhem to slake the thirst of even the most avid readers of the Dark Side." The New Southern is located at 181 E. Chester St. Parking and entry are at the rear of the building.
