June 5, 2008 (Celebrity Cafe / E. Van Dril) -- It seems possible that Tim Burton and Johnny Depp will reteam for an adaptation of one of the darkest, creepiest television shows of all-time.

The adaptation for Dark Shadows (1966-1971) is currently being written by frequent Burton collaborator John August (who’s written Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Big Fish), and involves story lines revolving around zombies, vampires and warlocks.

August is reportedly splitting his time between Shadows and Billy Batson and the Legend of Shazam because of the pile-up following the writers’ strike. According to an interview conducted by IESB.net with Get Smart director Peter Segal (who will direct Shazam), August is writing Dark Shadows for Burton.

At this moment, it is still unclear whether Johnny Depp will play the story’s main character, vampire Barnabas Collins. But given his previous work with Burton in rather dark pieces -- most notably in Sleepy Hollow and Sweeney Todd -- Depp signing on for Dark Shadows seems to be a logical progression.

the dimming light through my window
the soft purr and fur of a cat sleeping quietly by my side
and now the loving look in her eyes as she curls up on my stomach
and we stare out the window at the stars

You have a Friend in Pennsylvania
Lisa Manderach was three weeks short of her thirtieth birthday when she went for a quick errand to Your Kidz & Mine, a new children's clothing store in Collegeville, Pennsylvania on September 10, 1995. She took her daughter, Devon, only nineteen months old, and that was the last time anyone saw either of them alive. The details of this case are from the Philadelphia Inquirer.

So languid in your carefree world,
My voice lost to the wind.
Watching, waiting.
We danced through the cobalt night,
And it was right for just a minute.
For a moment I soar,
As I picture you here;
A friend.
Yet your voice speaks against your face;
Your words like fire,
The dark mist of dreams burnt off by your laugh.
I swear it won't be like this again,
Until I see your smile
And forget your laugh.
