July 1, 2008 (Press Release) -- Devil's Due proudly announces a publishing deal with Digital Manga Publishing that will bring original Vampire Hunter D comics to the U.S. Already a cult favorite among fans, the hugely popular international star of novels, manga, and full-length animated movies will make his monthly U.S. comic-book debut from DDP.

The first series, entitled American Wasteland, will have a noticeably North American feel never before seen in the Vampire Hunter D mythos, while closely paying respect to the history of "D."

"Vampire Hunter D is one of those anime and manga properties that transcends many audiences," said DDP President Josh Blaylock. "What Mr. Kikuchi has allowed us to do is to bring an American feel to the story, while at the same time delivering the D that everyone knows and loves."

Originally created by Japanese novelist Hideyuki Kikuchi, Vampire Hunter D follows its title character in a distant post-apocalyptic future where vampires have overrun Earth. Half human and half vampire, D is a supernaturally enhanced vampire hunter forced to survive as an outcast from both humans and vampires.

More details regarding DDP's release dates and creative team for American Wasteland will be available soon.

There once was a place -- sacred to some, unholy to others -- where many of the VO Elders would gather to discuss the fate of the world, the fate of each other, and everything in between.

This place, The Black Raven Inn, closed under mysterious circumstances a few years ago.

But lately some have reported movement within its walls.

This is the compiled writings of the initial BRI stories.

Everyone dreams, yes you and me
We dream of lives wild and free
Full of mystical beings and more
Will it hold mystery, magic, or gore
You never can tell what a dream will be
Just close your eyes and you will see
Dreams are there to calm the soul
To mend your body, to make you whole
Dreams you dream can take you away
To dance where unicorns and pegusi play
Remember your dreams as best you can
Picture the beach and warm, golden sand
Dreams are there to set you free
Among the clouds or rippling sea

Forbidden love
Ever hungering
Constantly yearning
Like an empty spot
In my soul
Your beautiful face
Haunting my sleep
Making me wish
That I could keep
You safe from harm
In my faithful arms

Red lights flashing in my mind's eye
I can't see
Whispers in the dark
Creatures trying to claw at me
Here in the night
Fighting the pain
Feeling the strain
Fractured thoughts form
Splintering into glistening pieces
I'm awake
Sleep is for the weak
The nightmares fade
as my eyes adjust
Just one night...
One peaceful night...
I pray to Demeter
Christ
Dionysus
A deity who'll listen to my plight
Maybe it's not only my mind
Maybe it's the world
the Universe
