My melancholy mood quickly evaporated as I neared the Inn...something was different this night. It took all of 3 seconds to notice it. (Blame it on me being so wrapped up in my thoughts.) For the first time in so many months or years the Inn was not closed and most importantly, it was not empty.

Slowing my approach, I silently made my way upwards, body tensed, to a ledge outside of where the rafter would connect to the wall. Remembering familiar view points, I gazed in through the small crack there. I cursed that it was such a small crack that I could only re-confirm there were lights on. So over I moved to a window and peeked in.

Demon.

I ducked down again and clamped a hand over my mouth. A familiar person. People were returning home. Panic gripped my throat and shook me around. 'I didn't really expect anyone to return again, did I?''No, not really.' Now what to do...

Sliding down the wall to rest in a small curled up ball, I sat in the long grasses and contemplated my next move.

My nostrils flared with the scent of his cologne.
