Chapter One---

I'm a lonely little middle school goth girl, but fairly content. At the park, I swing like Wednesday, in my black corset dress and a smile on my face. There are people around me, but I don't mind. I've got Goon, my pet bat. He's special, because not everyone can see him. Goon talks back to me, but most people never hear him. Goon tells me I'm half vampire.

I'm swinging, and growing thirsty. Goon tells me to go get something to drink. I buy a bottle of water, but I'm still thirsty. I throw away my bottle, and some goth guy about two years older than myself is standing next to me. "Are you still thirsty?" he asks me. "Yes.." I reply. "I know you, but you don't know me. Your name is Veronica Orloc, and you have a bat named Goon. Here. Drink this," the guy hands me a glass bottle filled half way with red liquid. "Sorry, I'm not allowed to drink," I say, assuming it's some sort of alchohol. "It's not wine. Vee, I'm yor cousin, Jake." I look at the boy. "Jake who?" I ask. "Jakob Orloc," Jake replies. I remember his face, from when I was younger. We used to play together. I drank the liquid. It was salty and tangy, but good. "You're half vampire, just like me. That's why I can see Goon, too," Jake says. I'm satisfied from my thirst, yet still thirsty. There's a sharpness where my canines were... Suddenly I'm somehow drawn to the other people around us. Not by looks but by scent. A girl to my far left gets a cut, and I can hear it--the flesh being ripped. I want her blood.

words echo endlessly
on a sea of pain
blood red
hurt
it goes on forever
never ending
always the same
hurting worse
each day
the pain grows
slowly becoming unbearable
an ache
throbbing and harsh
growing worse
pounding out its existance
on the very essence of being
screaming
hating without thought
... ... ...
I don't know how to continue
to go on
I can't find the words for it
silence
HELP ME!!!

An Essay on Vampire Biology
Before speculating on any specific pathogens capable of producing a condition akin to vampirism, I wish to post an old line of reasoning on how vampires manage to survive on a diet which contains so much water and so little else.
