October 28, 2007 (news.com.au / Peter Hansen) -- Convicted murderer Tracey Wigginton, who calls herself a vampire, began new Supreme Court action last week, protesting against her high-security classification. She wants to do her life sentence in the softer conditions of a prison farm.

August 25, 2008 (Jim Schoettler / The Times-Union) -- A man who police say claims to be a 225-year-old vampire is being held in a Virginia jail, charged with sexually battering a young Jacksonville girl in May and two other young girls he was living with at the time of his arrest last week.

After vowing to never again write about Lestat, this best seller reveals she has one more vampire novel in her. Her newest religious book is Christ the Lord: The Road to Cana.  Anne Rice recently engaged in an online chat to answer questions from fans.

1. Do you ever plan to write additional books for the Vampire Chronicles series?

Any broad exploration of pre-Industrial European society cannot help but touch upon the plethora of peasant tales that both served to entertain the populace and teach morality to the children of Europe. On surface examination, at least, this function of folklore seems apparent enough. It is a perfectly valid assessment of the function of common fable--but in many respects, it is inadequate.
