There have been several 'End of the world' dates that have come and gone over the course of my life. I remember sitting in my High School Latin class near the stroke of noon or whenever, terrified because that was when someone had said that the world was supposed to end at that date and time. This was in 1984 there was reference to Big Brother and George Orwell's book then.
There was also some date in the 90's and the mysterious Apocalyptic results of the Y2K computer glitches that were to bring down societies and have us all living in the dark after New Years eve. The PC thing was also supposed to happen later that year when 10-10-00 happened.
I even watched this video that was made explaining how the corridors in the great pyramids were actually measuring time, and that by a certain mathematical formula, each of the pathways turned in direction at the very date of some huge world upheaval in history. By their calculations, the path ended completely on what would be May 20th 2000. (I asked off for that day)
Then there was June 6th of that same year, where the numbers 6/6 and 6 o clock were the time of Armageddon. I imagine they (the people that talk about these things) liked that one , because When the year became '06 they spoke about the 6/6/06 thing again.
Each time I 'lived through' one of these end of the world dates I became all the more skeptical, and more and more bored with getting upset with these things.
Now it's the year 2012? I don't think I'll hold my breath or wonder sadly how old my kids will be, I find this stuff annoying now.
Trust me, that whole Egypt thing was VERY convincing. It was the first one that didn't speak about the Middle East and plagues and such. There were many things about that one that really had me believing.
But they were wrong too.
Hey DEATH, see you on New Year's Eve 2012 buddy! lol right here at VO.
Any of you folks 'live through' the End of the world before too? Were there any of those 'times' that you really thought that this time it was going to happen?
