Sometimes when I have been inside a long time at night, I'll look outside into the darkness and it seems a little foreboding. Yet, if I am outside for a time and the Sun makes it's descent while I'm out of doors, the night seems more like home than the light indoors does.
Maybe it is simply a matter of adjustment that the eyes or the mind go through, , maybe it is something deeper. Some people really do not like the dark at all, they would always prefer to be indoors at dusk, they do not drive or go out after nightfall. A preference maybe too. I really feel more in tune or focussed at night, my senses seem more accute. There have been times I actually thought that there just simply was not enough night.
When I was thinking about this on my way home tonight, something else crossed my mind about the darkness and light and our comfort with it. When I'm surrounded by dark things, people, energy (not always dark meaning negative) I'm less comfortable with the 'lighter' things in life, the daylight regular world and all of its trappings. It all seems severe and brash and I long for the escape of the more soft nighttime world. Yet when I ebb back over to being mostly involved with the lighter world, somehow I start to see darker things almost as foreboding as the souls that fear going out at night. The unknown yet to be uncovered.
I hope this made sense, does anyone else have experience with this sensation?
