There have been a lot of stories and legends that have the theme of immortality. Not just in the case of Vampires.
There is a new Series out called "New Amsterdam" I'm not thinking that the character is vampiric.
There is a bit about it here. http://www.fox.com/newamsterdam/ Sounds almost like the Highlander series of which I was a big fan as well.
I began thinking about how many different portrayals in TV and movies there are depicting an Immortal. It seems like a popular theme that people find interesting. Along with the theme of people being able to go through time like with the new movie "Jumper"
In some ways do you think that the popularity of vampires is due heavily on the idea of being immortal? Or of being drawn to someone almost God-like in the ability to never die and have all knowledge of all time? Ultimate protection and wisdom?
Is there some part of human nature that 'needs' to find 'God in the flesh'? Or at least something close? Or do you think it is just a cool idea to live forever? Would you want to?
