Happy Independance Day!

I decided that I'm just not going to call it the "Fourth of July" . It's The Fourth of July in Canada, and France and England and every other country and they do not celebrate it. Americans celebrate it because its the day we became Independant.  Being self supporting and free is a pretty good reason to celebrate.

I don't want to see this day referred to to in the same way as Cinco De Mayo. As only a day to get drunk and blow up stuff. (though I do find it funny that we spend so much money in chinese fireworks on this day) . Smiling

I also hope that other countries do not slip into the habit of simply referring to a date as a holiday with maybe a muddied reference to it.  Or one day we will be wishing eachother a "Happy December twenty fifth"  or Hanging up decorations with bats that simply say "Happy October Thirty First!"

*steps off soap box and grabs a sparkler*

'Tis just another day,

'Tis just another day, Unfortunates. I call them that because they live anywhere between here and Mexico.

<< Not a fan of the 'states. At all.

I find it offensive that you

I find it offensive that you label everyone in the United States as an "Unfortunate". You didn't see anyone here bashing Canadians on Canada Day did you? Or maybe Victoria Day? And you won't.

If you want to hate Americans fine, but don't bring it to these forums. Derogatory remarks about other members directly or by group is against the Terms of Service.

Yes, I definitely recommend

Yes, I definitely recommend you re-read the TOS if you have any questions about what is appropriate. This may be a Canadian website run by a Canadian, but I agree with Ranger -- you're way out of line by grouping all Americans as 'unfortunates.' I happen to know a hell of a lot of great people living in the States, and have lived there for a time myself.

That and your smart ass reply is not appreciated. Just so you know in the future, it's not the smartest thing to join a Forum and piss off everyone within your first week, my friend.

So I tortured a few people in the 1400's. Do you know how boring it was back then? I mean, there really wasn't much else to do. Vamp

Then we are in opposing

Then we are in opposing viewpoints. I hate america. Unfortunately, since Canada is your ally, I can't find any anti-american t-shirts...

*smile* Well, then Kreig, I

*smile* Well, then Kreig, I do not suppose you will be visiting here. MY point was that all countries are numbing out a lot of their holidays and celebrations. It's a shame too. When we lose our histories we lose ourselves.

I definitely agree with you

I definitely agree with you there. This Canada Day, most of the people CTV interviewed asking "what do you think people should know about Canada?" didn't say "freedom", "democracy", "stubborn nationalism" or anything like that. Know what they said? They said "Tim Hortons coffee". ??? Tim Hortons serves (IMO) nasty, urine-water coffee! It's terrible! It was REALLY dissappointing (and hurtful to my over-proud nationalistic side) to hear that. Nations don't mean anything to the average person anymore...
