Mina
Review by Rain Addams, submitted on 12-Dec-1994
I just finished _Mina_, by Marie Kiraly (a.k.a. Elaine Bergstrom).
I have mixed emotions about it. It picks up towards the end of _Dracula_, using a diary that Mina ostensibly kept for herself and hid from sight of the others. Most of the book deals with Mina's awakening to sexuality after the awakening that she was given by her vampire lover, and the things that come out of that.
Well-written and a good read, definitely; and once I divorced it from _Dracula_ and looked on it as its own separate story, an engrossing story.
Someone mentioned before that Kiraly leaves out the child mentioned at the end of _Dracula_, but _Mina_ takes place during the months just after the death of _Dracula_ (or is he? *grin*), so the child wouldn't have even been conceived yet.
All in all, a book well worth reading, just to see what Kiraly does with it.
