Bloodthirsty teenagers and Goths abound in this searing, sexy vampire mystery.

Six months ago, Jessie Hartwell was just a normal college girl.

The only things on her mind were studying, shocking people with her Gothic dress, and going to Fort Myers Beach on Friday nights. Then her mother is murdered in a horrific way, and Jessie’s friends start dying, one by one.

Jessie Hartwell doesn’t believe in the supernatural.

But strange things keep happening to her, anyway. Her dead mother visits her, she has bizarre visions, and a legendary predator stalks the nightlife of Fort Myers, Florida, killing at will. And Jessie hears horrifying rumors that her friends were butchered for their blood.

The police think that she’s withholding information.

But all Jessie knows is that she’s in danger. Because the relentless, vicious predator has disciples everywhere, and now they are hunting her. Jessie knows that he won’t stop until he possesses her blood, too.

Jessie thinks that she’s losing her mind.

Because no sane person believes in ghosts and vampires, do they? But the line between reality and fantasy seems to be blurring, and the only person who can help her might just be a figment of her imagination. And soon Jessie will be locked into a midnight fight for her life with the killer whose name means BLOOD WORSHIP.

Wow, this was a great book. It kept me awake all night long, chewing on my fingernails. Jessie is vulnerable to a vampire who is stalking a Florida town, and her mother's ghost comes back to help her. Throw in a a bunch of goths, some Indian lore and storytelling, and you have the makings of a great (I hope) series. The book ended on a note that I think probably means another is coming right behind it, and I can't wait.

The moments come and go, painfully slow
A stillness in the air, as time decides to stop
Thoughts slipping through a passage of the mind
Quivering as they wish to explode across the void
It is these days that I detest; patience wears thin
Teetering on the edge of love and life
Yet the phone does not ring and the mail is late
How long should I give and never receive
Coming so close only to pull away once more
Awkwardness riddling two paths becoming one
Wicked are the clouds that swirl with abandonment

Clawing at this life, yearning to break free
on the outside looking in, looking at you looking at me
some hearts weren't ever meant to love
some tears weren't ever mean to be cried
that's what you told me on the day that I died
you left me without a soul
spiralling down into the dark
sucked into your black hole
I was your child, your lover, your friend
and you left me alone for eternity without end
