Book Review: The Good Ghoul's Guide to Getting Even

At sixteen Elizabeth Frasier has her life all planned out, she’s going to be class valedictorian at Waterloo High in Austin, Texas and get accepted by Tisch School at NYU before going on to become the next Steven Spielberg. But first, she needs to have something on her already impressive transcript that shows she can be a team player as well as a leader. That is how she found herself agreeing to be a cheerleader and going out on a date with the hunky star quarterback. Too bad it was a date to die for as Beth wakes up to discover life (or is it death?) has thrown her a major curve. Now she’s one pissed off vampire out for revenge and with the assistance of some fellow classmates, she might just be able to regain her mortality because it’s unlikely the college of choice is set up for dead girls.
Fans of Jennifer Scales will probably enjoy this slightly tongue-in-cheek teenage vampire tale geared toward the preteen crowd. Fortunately, the sometimes redundant constant dialog is liberally laced with equal doses humor and sarcasm which help maintain the overall light tone as do the occasional pranks played on the bad guys.
