The Slayer Enters College in Season Four of Buffy on DVD
by Garrett Godwin

Buffy Anne Summers and her friends have survived high school. Now they must face the biggest challenge of all besides fighting the forces of evil: college.

Available on DVD, Buffy, The Vampire Slayer: The Complete Fourth Season features all 22 episodes with extras, such as audio commentaries of the season's pivotal episodes from the series' cast and crew, and a feature from that season. Episode highlights includes the Emmy-nominated "Hush", written and directed by series creator Joss Whedon.

Following the explosive graduation of Sunnydale High, Buffy (Sarah Michelle Gellar) and her friends, they all go in different directions as they endure adulthood. Buffy, Willow (Alyson Hannigan) and her werewolf boyfriend Oz (Seth Green) are college freshmen, while Xander (Nicholad Brendan) lives in the basement of his parents' home and tries to find his place not only in the group, but also in the world. Though no longer a Watcher, Giles (Anthony Stewart Head) was still around to aid them in their battle against the forces of darkness.

Season four sees the Slayer finding love once again with Riley Finn (Marc Blucas), the complete opposite of Angel (David Boreanaz). Besides being handsome and have all-American good looks, Riley may seem like Buffy's perfect man. But like Buffy, he also leads a double life: he hunts demons for the military on behalf of Professor Maggie Walsh (Lindsay Crouse), who has an agenda of her own that is one of the major arcs this season.

Xander found both lust and love with vengeful demon turned human Anya (Emma Caulfield). Unable to control his werewolf nature, Oz leaves both Sunnydale and Willow, who continues to develop her witchcraft and finds an unexpected love within fellow Wiccan Tara (Amber Benson).

Season four features the episode crossovers with Angel, finding the conscience-stricken vampire saving souls in Los Angeles in hopes of saving his own soul.

Besides the return of Angel, fan favorite Faith (Eliza Dushku) returns to wreak havoc on the Slayer this season; Spike (James Marsters) also comes back to Sunnydale, becoming enemy and reluctant ally to Buffy and the Scoobies.

Watch as Buffy and her friends begin to face the real world in Buffy, The Vampire Slayer: The Complete Fourth Season, available on DVD.

The moments come and go, painfully slow
A stillness in the air, as time decides to stop
Thoughts slipping through a passage of the mind
Quivering as they wish to explode across the void
It is these days that I detest; patience wears thin
Teetering on the edge of love and life
Yet the phone does not ring and the mail is late
How long should I give and never receive
Coming so close only to pull away once more
Awkwardness riddling two paths becoming one
Wicked are the clouds that swirl with abandonment

Clawing at this life, yearning to break free
on the outside looking in, looking at you looking at me
some hearts weren't ever meant to love
some tears weren't ever mean to be cried
that's what you told me on the day that I died
you left me without a soul
spiralling down into the dark
sucked into your black hole
I was your child, your lover, your friend
and you left me alone for eternity without end
