The mercury light of the streetlamp
Tints orange the images of my mind,
Its beam so strong against the night
So feeble against the darkness.

I remember the things which bring me pain;
So fast thoughts which bring joy fade.
Yet with the onslaught of time
More vivid are those of grief and guilt.

Fingers of the past clawing forward
To tighten their grip
On the mind which gave them birth.

Tethers of shame
Shrouding ever thicker
The heart of their gestation.

"No more!"

A glitter in the eye
A smile to add surprise
A soul that would defy
A cold heart in which to hide
A mind harmed by lies

A glance in hopes to confide
A cheek down which a teardrop slides
A vampire who would cry
A reaction that cannot be defined
A barrier within the mind

I turned out so bad, im not even alive and i don't blame you for leaving that night
But you could be bad, as awful as i am and i doubt you would even put up a fight
cause i get my light from streetlights
and you get yours from the sun
but you won't be able to show your face in daylight when we're done
