Somewhere inside the adult female reader lurks a 12-year-old girl breathless at the idea of romance and mystified by the rules of sexual engagement, the one who (in my case) stayed up three nights straight devouring "Gone With the Wind." Although Stephenie Meyer's "Twilight" series of vampire romance novels is aimed at young adultsages 12 and up, I'm certain there are a lot of older women reading them too.

Chapter One---

She stands at the junction of the road,
The moon is clear and bright.
She chooses her quarry carefully,
Her prey must be just right.

She spies a young man walking by,
With a strong and confident gait.
She decides her feast will come from him,
No longer will she wait.

She follows him to a night club,
It vibrates with a pulsing beat.
She gazes across the dance floor,
His gentle eyes and hers meet.

She moves with slow and sensuous steps,
Her walk becomes a tease.

Legend paints post-apocalyptic New York City as an urban jungle being replaced by actual jungle, with plants sprouting up through cracks in the sidewalks and a veritable field of waist-high grass in Times Square. So is this what would really happen if civilization ended?
