With the first flush of the morning Ethel appeared at the door of the house on Riverside Drive. She had not heard from Ernest, and had been unable to obtain connection with him at the telephone. Anxiety had hastened her steps. She brushed against Jack, who was also directing his steps to the abode of Reginald Clarke.

I'm too afraid to sleep
and much too scared to fly.
I'm too ashamed to leap
and too dried out to cry.
I have a demon in my head
and an angel by my side.
There's a monster under my bed
and my confidence has died.
I hear a freight-train in my room,
and a creaking in the den..
I feel the icy breath of doom
so I sit down and count to ten.
I swallow the pill,
knock back a drink.
I shiver from the chill.
The dark lives thick as ink.
The thoughts are racing through my mind.

*looks at LB as she walks up beside them...watches Demon put both the girl and her dog to sleep and smiles as he follows them back to the Inn*

*as they enter the Inn DE walks to the bar and pours water into a glass and some into a bowl for the dog...then follows Demon and LB up to the girl's room...sets the glass on the nightstand beside the girl's bed and the bowl on the floor for the dog*
