Fifth-grader Tracey Wilson is nervous. It's been a while since she's spotted Norman the vampire poking around looking for her cat, Omar. Tracey adopted Omar when he escaped from the vampire community. And Norman has been not on their--er--tails ever since. Omar has amazing powers, like being able to talk and change into other animal forms. Unfortunately, the vampires need Omar. Bad. It's Norman's job to bring Omar and Tracey back to the village.

But Tracey hasn't seen Norman in weeks. What could he be up to? She finds out soon enough when Omar is mistaken for an exotic rare animal and locked up at the local university. What a mix-up! But things get really hairy when a famous European professor shows up to study the "Wonder Cat". A professor who looks a lot like Norman.

*waking in the room, Saraphine knows that she is in the Black Raven Inn. Not knowing nor remembering how she got there, she is still very groggy and can't see very well, she can make out a figure standing over her*

"Hello? Who are you and where am I?" She manages to stammer before falling back asleep.

The mercury light of the streetlamp
Tints orange the images of my mind,
Its beam so strong against the night
So feeble against the darkness.

I remember the things which bring me pain;
So fast thoughts which bring joy fade.
Yet with the onslaught of time
More vivid are those of grief and guilt.

Fingers of the past clawing forward
To tighten their grip
On the mind which gave them birth.

Tethers of shame
Shrouding ever thicker
The heart of their gestation.
